TonyLuuBio

Tony Luu was born on an overcrowded wooden refugee boat that was fleeing his troubled homeland of Vietnam. His family eventually settled in Australia where Tony was given his first super 8 camera at the age of 9, but could never afford to actually run film though it. In the following year, the family borrowed a brand new video 8 camera from a relative with which Tony was to shoot his first masterpiece- his sister’s wedding. Tony’s destiny was settled that day.

Over the last 25 years, he has racked up an impressive list of credits which include thousands of TVCs for clients such as Samsung, Kellogg’s, Pepsi and Telstra. Tony has also shot more than 130 music videos for in a credit list that reads like a “who’s who” of the Australian music industry. Tony has lensed 3 feature films, 48 Shades, Storage and The Merger.

Tony has picked up numerous awards, including more than 50 Australian Cinematographer Society Awards and 8 prestigious Golden Tripods. Tony was awarded ACS accreditation in 2009. His dedicated and creative approach to collaborating with the director allows him to fulfill the visual potential any motion picture project.
